Talking Homework
Dear Parents/Carers,
Once a fortnight the whole School take part in a special lesson called ‘Big Writing’. The aim of the lessons is to improve children’s writing skills and confidence through the use of plenty of fun and games! The lessons will take place on a Friday. As part of the children’s preparation, a whole school talking homework will be set and sent out on the Tuesday night before the lesson.
It would be extremely useful if you could set aside a little quality time, with no distractions to have a family discussion on the given subject. The children would benefit greatly from hearing a variety of ideas and opinions and having the opportunity to develop their own. Most importantly, they need to be adding to their vocabulary through these discussions. It would be great if they could hear and use useful words and phrases that they could then use in their Friday ‘Big Writing’ lesson.
