Welcome to St. Beghs Catholic Junior School

Hello everyone.

My name is Mrs. Shaw and it is my privilege to be the headteacher of

St. Begh's Catholic Junior School.

I am sure you will enjoy your visit to our website.

St Begh's is an excellent school that values standards and achievement.

We believe that OUR school belongs to EVERYONE connected with it ..... Governors, teachers, teaching assistants, parents, children, secretaries, site manager, midday supervisors, kitchen ladies and all our surrounding community. Three years ago I found a marvellous poem called 'A People Place' by William Crockett.

This, to me, is the essence of our school:

A People Place

If this is not a place where tears are understood,

Where do I go to cry?

If this is not a place where my spirits can take wing,

Where do I go to fly?

If this is not a place where my questions can be asked

Where do I go to seek?

If this is not a place where my feelings can be heard

Where do I go to speak?

If this is not a place where you'll accept me as I am

Where can I go to be?

If this is not a place where I can try to learn and grow

Where can I just be me?

We are extremely proud of all that goes on here. As our website demonstrates, the children at St. Begh's are supported in their learning by dedicated staff, governors and parents.

Take a look around:

I encourage you to browse around our website, you will find details of school events, visitors and activities that serve to enliven the curriculum, alongside information about our after school clubs and extra curricular activities that your children can participate in.

Dates for your diary:

Don't forget to visit our Calendar section, for a comprehensive lisiting of all of the important forthcoming term dates - make sure you have your diaries handy. I look forward to seeing you in school!

Best Wishes

On behalf of the School Governing Body, I would like to take this opportunity through this website to assure parents of the Governors' commitment to providing a first class and all round education for all our pupils, in a caring and Christian environment.

We firmly believe that every child is special and must be treated as such and, along with the headteacher and her staff, have formulated policies to ensure this.

It is also our role as Governors to listen to the concerns of parents, to establish policies for the development of the curriculum and for the spiritual and pastoral care of our young people to establish priorities for the allocation of resources, along with the maintanance and improvement of the school premises.

We believe the sucess of St. Begh's depends upon building strong partnerships between the Governing body, the staff, parents and pupils and also between the school, our parishes and the wider community. The Governors are commited to developing these partnerships in the best interests of the school and all its young people.

With every good wish,
