We hope you enjoy looking at our work. Sights and Sounds of Whitehaven Harbour. A poem by Year 3 pupils.
Early morning and the sun rises over the deserted harbour. Fluffy clouds like white candy floss drift in the sky. The lonely red and white lighthouse gazes out to sea. The silence is broken by squawking swooping seagulls. Geese honk and cackle. Flapping ducks with tapping feet fight for food. Boats clank against pontoons. Reflections of beautiful blue bobbing boats wobble like a mirror on the greeny-grey water. Fishing boats chugging out to sea make big, white waves. White surf crashes onto the empty beach. A gentle cool breeze drifts above the crows nest. Multi-coloured flags flap and wave. Bells on boats clang. Fishing nets are stretched out. Boat masts move gracefully. A custard cream car arrives on the harbour side. Chattering children lick cold ice-creams. Breathe in the salty air - it's just great to be in Whitehaven!
